Going green today is effortless and cheap, and yet it can save you thousands of dollars in the future. There are things you are able to do to be more environmentally accountable. A lot of them cost little money or none at all but can lower your fuel consumption and energy costs.

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle are expressions you must have heard of. It is the mystical secret of going green. It is rather easy to do, it just takes a little bit of re adjustment with your thinking. Reduce, reuse, and recycle are simle steps to remembered when we make the changes in our going green efforts. These steps are in reality pretty simple and can even save us a lot of money.

1. Reduce Your Every Day Consumption

Just about all of us were raised not to be wasteful, however it appears that we have forgotten the lesson we learned as we got older. The first step to going green is to start reducing the amount of items that are disposable by using items that can be re-used over again.

* You can reduce the amount of toxic fuels you use by driving less, keeping your car tuned up, and keeping your tires properly inflated. Try to combining errands whenever possible and plan out your route so you don’t have to do a lot of running around.

* Make sure your house is energy efficient so you don’t using more energy than necessary to heat and cool your your home. Keep your furnace in good repair, place weatherstrips to windows and doors and add more insulation to reduce heat transfer.

Reduce your daily consumption is the logical first step to going green. The less you use the less demand on fuel consumption and the environment.

2. Reuse Instead Of Disposable

We have been spoiled and have adopted the bad habit of buying disposable everything. If you stop to think for a minute you would properly have a hard time coming up with a dozen items that don’t have disposable alternatives. Nowadays everything seems to be made to be used once then thrown away.

We have disposable razors, disposable toothbrushes, disposable bottles, disposable diapers, etc. The point is that with this kind of mentality isn’t good for our environment and the planet and it’s costing you lots of money.

* Use reusable water bottle, the type that are dishwasher safe for your water needs.

* Use reusable fabric bags for grocery shopping.

* Pack your lunch in plastic containers rather than paper bags.

3.  Recycle Papers, Cans, Glass, Plastic, Etc

This is another easy step to go green. There are some items that can not be re-used, such as pop cans, glass bottles, plastic containers. You can decrease the impact on the environment simply recycling them instead of throwing them away and overloading the land fills.

Today most communities have some sort of recycling programs and recycle bins are usually pick up on the same day they pick up the trash. You drop your papers, cans, bottles, etc into the recycle bin and take it to the curb on trash day. It just that easy!

This three step action can be started today. Start with reducing. Just don’t use as much as you used to: don’t drive as much, don’t use as many disposable things as you used to, don’t keep using as much fossil fuels as you used to.
