Keeping Green on Holiday â Eco Friendly Tips

At this time of year many of us embark on our annual holidays. However, whether we travel abroad, stay in Britain or just go for a weekend break, holidaying does come with its environmental problems.
But there are some great eco-friendly products and ideas to help us reduce the impact we have on the eco system when we embark on our holidays.
Getting there
Travelling, whether by car, plane, train or boat is not an eco-friendly pursuit but there is much you can do to try and offset the environmental impact your annual vacation creates.
If you drive less throughout the year; perhaps planning journeys so you can do multiple tasks, you can work out how many miles you are saving and use these for your trip.
Flying is of course one of the largest CO2 producing activities we can embark on but there are many travel agents who now offer and off-set where you can either buy carbon credits or other schemes such as planting trees for air miles can at least ease your conscience a little.
Little bits of home
Many of us take items on holiday with us; mobile phones, mp3 players, and even laptops. All this equipment often means we have to lug the chargers and a converter with us when we travel. Why not take a solar powered charger? With a solar charger you can charge your gizmos for free â and you won’t have to take a continental adapter with you either!
No need for a convertor/adapter with a solar charger
Eco-products for holidaying
There are quite a few eco-friendly products for holidaying available. Hydropal Water Bottles are a good example. These, filter tap water so you don’t have to but all that bottled water â preventing the build up of plastic bottles on foreign landfills.
Biodegradable picnic plates are another good idea. With these you don;t have to worry about littering the countryside â you can just bury your rubbish â knowing it will disappear in a few days.
