Entry from: Pai, Thailand Entry Title: “Goodbye Pai!” Entry: “Good morning! I’m back after a fantastic few days exploring Pai in Northern Thailand. By the time I arrived in Pai, my sinus infection was history and although I was still licking my wounds from the now-infamous motor scooter debacle, my ego had largely recovered. Most importantly, the sun – my constant traveling companion during this trip that had mysteriously vanished in Mae Hong Son – reappeared. It was sunny and clear every day, but the weather was extreme in the mountains- the temperature almost hit 90 degrees during the day but hovered closer to 40 degrees at night! Pai is a strange and wonderful little town. It’s more like a European resort community nestled in the the middle of gorgeous rice paddies and mountainous jungles than it is a small town of 3000 in Northern Thailand. And it’s a total hippie town, with hundreds of young rasta-wannabes listening to Bob Marley, making beaded jewelry, teaching yoga, playing guitar (badly) on the street corners, wearing flowing and embroidered skirts, and taking advantage of the more casual enforcement of local drug laws.
