On October 30, 2010, Ohio Wesleyan University held a public open house for its new Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center, which features a geothermal energy system that heats and cools the building and a heat-recovery system that heats the pool. Ohio Wesleyan’s first “green” building also features a reflective clay-tile roof as well as recycled, regional, and low-VOC (volatile organic chemical) building materials. Here are highlights from the event, including tours explaining the geothermal system.
