UMass Amherst officials dedicated the new 157000-square-foot Integrated Sciences Building on Sept. 14, 2009. The $114.5 million, four-story ISB includes 85000 square feet of modern classrooms and laboratories, a 300-seat auditorium, research laboratories and faculty offices. In addition, the high-performance design incorporates many environmentally friendly and energy-saving green-building techniques. UMass President Jack M. Wilson , Robert C. Holub , UMass Amherst chancellor, and the Mahoney brothers of Springfield, Robert, Richard and William, who donated $2 million toward the building, were among the speakers. Steve Goodwin , dean of the College of Natural Sciences, Congressman John Olver and Henry Thomas III, UMass Amherst Trustee, also spoke.
