Energise Your Future is a unique interactive careers and lifestyle event that showcases the depth and breadth of career opportunities the oil and gas/energy sector has to offer individuals. Following successful events in Aberdeen and the East of England, the Academy, in association with NOF Energy, Subsea North East, Young Enterprise North East, TDR and Newcastle University, brought Energise Your Future to the North East of England a region that is vitally important within the energy sector supply chain. A thousand school pupils from across the North-East attended the event held at the Metro Radio Arena on the 17th & 18th March to discover the wide range of careers open to them in the regions dynamic energy industry. Around 35 local manufacturing and engineering firms, marine specialists and learning providers exhibited at the event which was the first fully interactive careers fair for the sector to take place in the region. Visitors got the chance to try out a host of industry-related activities like piloting remotely operated underwater vehicles, testing offshore survival suits and engineering construction challenges. As well as finding out about training programmes, apprenticeships and overseas opportunities in the sector, a special tour for Engineering Diploma students took place to help them discover how their subject choices can shape their careers.
