www.npavancouver.ca NPA Councillor Suzanne Anton announced today that she is running for Mayor of Vancouver in this fall’s November civic election. Anton made the announcement this morning, surrounded by NPA council candidates, former Mayor Sam Sullivan, and local business and community leaders. Anton says she is running for mayor because she believes Vancouver can be an even better city than it is today. That Vancouver can be an amazing cosmopolitan city, not just a city that tries to make it on good looks. “The opportunity is here, right in front of us,” says Anton. “But it won’t wait forever. We must have the imagination to recognize those opportunities and make them happen.” Anton announced her candidacy in Yaletown as an example of Vancouver’s possibilities–and past NPA leadership. “Yaletown is a high energy, thriving, vital area – an area the NPA had the imagination to create,” says Anton. “It’s a model of smart growth, smart green living, and smart planning.” Anton was also enthusiastic about the opportunities presented by being the Asia Pacific Gateway. “Look where we sit on the planet, a short distance to the world’s biggest markets and people living here already connected to that part of the world.
