Here’s how bikesharing works for a monthly subscription, you can unlock a rugged road bike from any of the over 400 Bixi stations much like taking out a shopping cart or airport luggage trolley. You can then lock it back up at a Bixi bike station near your destination by simply rolling it into the self-locking rack. It’s convenient, inexpensive and environmentally friendly urban transportation in a crowded metropolitan city. Currently available only in Montreal and London, England, there is a push to introduce this program to Toronto as well. If Bixi Toronto reaches 1000 subscribers, they plan to open in downtown Toronto in May 2011. For more information on Bixi and bikesharing, check out montreal.bixi.com
